The Slipstream Torpedo, created by a secret tech team working for Section 31, is an experimental subspace weapon based on slipstream technology.
Originally, slipstream was a transwarp-like mode of interstellar travel. Only this time, it was reconstructed into the use of weapons.
The first phase of the Slipstream Torpedoes, the Mark I's, were a weapon of mass destruction. It would be capable of tearing the space that an enemy target would occupy, and then destroying the matter around it. Use enough of these torpedoes, and it is almost possible to destroy an entire planet.
The second and latest phase, the Mark II's, where a less destructive weapon. When fired upon an enemy vessel, the torpedo would open a temporary subspace conduit and in a way 'slingshot' the enemy ship a lightyear into the opposite direction.
To Starfleet and the Federation, these torpedoes do not exist. But to Section 31, they're only used on the starship Phoenix-X. The Mark I's were discontinued due to thier mere destructive capability. If placed in the wrong hands there would be no telling what could happen. |
