Picard Maneuver
Devised under battle conditions in the Battle of Maxia by Captain Jean-Luc Picard, the Picard Maneuver is virtually impossible to defend against if the opponent has sensors that can only detect the speed of light or lower.
A starship accelerates to warp speed for a mere second and appears to be in two places at once to a distant observer or the opponent vessel.
Taking advantage of light speed dependant sensors, it allows a commander to greatly confuse an opponent and gain a strategic firing position.
The Picard Maneuver is required reading at Starfleet Academy.
